Looking for fun ways to get steps in the area? FitnessBank has just the list for you.
We’ve put together five of the best locales in D.C. for a good walk.
If you visit, make sure to download the FitnessBank Step Tracker app. Syncing your steps can mean big results in your FitnessBank savings account. The more you walk, the higher the interest rate earned for that account.
First on our list is National Mall. Centrally located, it stretches more than 2 miles from the Lincoln Memorial on the west to the U.S. Capitol on the east. It’s the perfect opportunity to get great steps while experiencing the attractions.
Along the trail are some of the city’s most notable sites: the Washington Monument, U.S. Capitol, Smithsonian Museums, the U.S. Botanical Gardens, to name a few. Check them out!
Another awesome locale in D.C. is Rock Creek Park. At just under 2,000 acres, the park is more than 100 years old. Fun Fact: Rock Creek was the United State’s third national park.
Its structure is an ode to a much simpler time in U.S. history. There’s housing from the colonial era, Civil War memorabilia, and more. Today, the park hosts a range of different events including live performances and intramural sports.
The C&O — Chesapeake & Ohio Canal — is almost 200 miles long and spans across both D.C. and Maryland. It offers multiple opportunities to get in a great day’s worth of steps.
In earlier times, the river was integral in facilitating the area’s industry, supporting communities along the Potomac River as it moved items like coal, lumber, and agricultural products to markets. It remains a location of historical relevance in the region.
Two of FitnessBank’s top priorities are physical and financial health. That’s why we encourage our patrons to get in their daily walk, tying favorable interest rates to your step count.
