The Step Tracker

The FitnessBank Step Tracker reads steps data directly from Apple Health and Google Fit. Sometimes Apple Health or the Google Fit do not update immediately.

Additionally, some wearables require the user to manually sync the step data to your smartphone.

Your average monthly steps will be calculated based upon all of the data we have received. The only way for FitnessBank to receive your step data is by opening the FitnessBank Step Tracker. Therefore, if you forget to open the FitnessBank Step  Tracker between the first and third of the month we will calculate your average daily steps based upon the entire previous months step data we have received. We want to make sure you get credit for all of your steps so remember to open the FitnessBank Step Tracker.

Make sure that you have synced your Fitbit to the Fitbit app.

FitnessBank Step Tracker records step data from your Fitbit account in the cloud – which gets information from your smartphone.

Tracking Steps​

You’ll need to link the FitnessBank Step Tracker to your Fitness Savings account.

To do that, download the FitnessBank Step Tracker app and the FitnessBank mobile banking app from the App Store or Google Play.

When setting up the FitnessBank Step Tracker app, you will need your log-in information for your wearable tracking device. The FitnessBank Step Tracker is compatible with Apple Health, Google Fit, Fitbit and Garmin.

Select Sign Up, enter your first and last name, email address and create your password to establish your Step Tracker account — be sure to use the same email address for the step tracker and Fitness Savings account.

Updated step information is sent to us every time you open the FitnessBank Step Tracker.

The FitnessBank Step Tracker reads steps data directly from these devices, but sometimes these devices don’t update immediately. Fitness Savings Account

FitnessBank is a division of Affinity BankFitnessBank and Affinity Bank are treated as the same entity for the purpose of calculating FDIC insurance limits and deposits.

To open your Fitness Savings Account, you’ll need:

  • Your driver’s license or passport
  • Your current bank account and routing number or debit card

You’ll get an email confirmation that your application is processing.

You’ll get another email when the account is open.

The minimum deposit is $100. A $10 maintenance fee will be waived for accounts with a $100 minimum average daily balance.

  • You’ll need your Fitness Savings Account number, which will be emailed to you when your account is confirmed and opened. Can’t find it? Contact Us and we’ll help you out.
  • Click enroll and create your access ID and password to establish your online banking log
  • You’ll receive an email confirmation when your online banking is set up
  • Once your online banking is set up, choose Accounts – Link External Accounts to link your primary bank account to your Fitness Savings Account

You can make deposits by scheduling an external transfer within our online banking or sending funds from your primary bank’s online banking. You can also have part of your payroll deposited to your Fitness Savings Account.

The funds used to open the account will post to your new Fitness Savings Account within three (3) to five (5) business days.

Start by downloading the FitnessBank Step Tracker app and then open a Fitness Savings Account by downloading our online banking app. Then link the app directly to Fitbit or Garmin or your phone’s default health application (Apple Health or Google Fit).

Important Notes:  Use the same email address for your FitnessBank Step Tracker app and Fitness Savings Account. Make sure to allow notifications.

Interest Rates​

Your interest rate will be determined based on your average number of steps for the previous month. Average more than 12,500 steps each day and your rate will be industry leading. Don’t forget to sync! Make sure you open the FitnessBank Step Tracker between the 1st and 3rd of each month so your Fitness Savings Account syncs with your Step Tracker.

Rates are updated no later than the second Monday of the following month, and statements are emailed to you

We will calculate your average monthly steps based on all the data we have received. The only way for FitnessBank to receive your step data is by opening the FitnessBank Step Tracker. So if you forget to open the FitnessBank Step Tracker between the 1st and 3rd of the month, we have to use the information we’ve received from your previous updates. 

The initial APY will be the highest tier, until the rate adjustment date following the first full-month after you open your Fitness Savings Account.

FitnessBank Community​

Groups allow family, friends and co-workers — or any of our app users  or savings account customers sharing a similar interest — to aggregate. Communication about Step Challenges remains specific to a Group. A Group is ongoing. A Step Challenge is limited with start and finish dates.

  • Open the FitnessBank Step Tracker app and select  Groups 
  • Select Create a Group
  • Enter the Name of your Group and a description of the Group
  • You can join or leave a group by selecting Join or Leave

Once the Group has been created, it is listed in the FitnessBank Groups section of the FitnessBank Step Tracker app and open to other users of the App to join. To see the Leaderboard for each Group, click on the name of the Group.

Step Challenges allow for healthy competition among family, friends and co-workers — as well as any FitnessBank customers sharing similar interests.

We offer a general FitnessBank Step Challenge of the Month involving all customers. We also host seasonal and promotional Step Challenges. Both types of challenges are open to the public and we present awards and prizes to those who top the Leaderboard. Each Challenge is different, so the prizes and awards criteria are defined in the description of the Challenge. 

To start a Step Challenge, email

  • The name of your Challenge and a short description of it.
  • The start and stop dates of your Challenge for it to be created.

The FitnessBank team will create your Challenge and you’ll find it in the FitnessBank Step Challenges section of the app. Users can join and leave the Challenge with the same process as joining or leaving a Group.

The StepBank​

Users of the StepTracker app accrue steps as rewards when they refer others to the app, open a Fitness Savings account, top a Leaderboards or participate in a promotional activity.

To use some or all of your Bonus Steps, open the FitnessBank Step Tracker app and select StepBank. Your bonus steps will be applied to boost your average steps in case of injury or that lazy weekend we all need once in a while.

The StepBank helps you stay on track to meet your Step Goal and earn your high interest rate.
